About This Test

Free AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) Practice Test

This free AWS Cloud Practitioner practice test checks your readiness for the CLF-C02 exam with 50 exam-style questions across all four domains, each with an explanation for every answer choice, on a 70-minute timer that mirrors the pace of the real 90-minute exam. Built by Training Camp and drawn from the same objectives we teach in our AWS Cloud Practitioner Boot Camp.

What's on the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) exam?

The CLF-C02 exam has four weighted domains: Cloud Concepts (24%), Security and Compliance (30%), Cloud Technology and Services (34%), and Billing, Pricing, and Support (12%). You get 90 minutes for 65 questions, 50 of which are scored and 15 of which are unscored items AWS uses to evaluate future questions. Questions are multiple choice (one correct answer out of four) or multiple response (two or more correct answers out of five or more), and you need a scaled score of 700 on a scale of 100 to 1000 to pass.

It is a foundational exam, so it tests breadth rather than depth. AWS describes the target candidate as having up to six months of exposure to the AWS Cloud in any role, technical or not, and the questions ask you to recognize what a service does and which one fits a scenario rather than how to configure it. The certification is valid for three years.

How to use this practice test

Take it once without notes to get an honest baseline, then read the explanation for every answer, including the ones you got right. The incorrect-choice explanations are where the distinctions the exam likes to test (Shield versus WAF, CloudWatch versus CloudTrail, Reserved Instances versus Savings Plans) get spelled out. Study your weakest domain and retake the test in a week. The 70-minute timer over 50 questions keeps you honest about pacing: the real exam gives you 90 minutes for 65 questions, so practice deciding in about a minute and a half and moving on rather than second-guessing.

Sample AWS Cloud Practitioner Practice Questions

Four questions from the bank, one per domain, with the reasoning behind every answer. The full test has 50.

Question 1 Cloud Concepts

Which advantage of the AWS Cloud refers to paying for compute only as it is consumed rather than buying servers ahead of demand?

  1. Increased speed and agility
  2. Going global in minutes
  3. Benefiting from massive economies of scale
  4. Trading fixed expense for variable expense Correct
Why this is the best answer

Correct. Trading fixed expense for variable expense means a company no longer buys servers up front for a forecast peak. It pays for compute only when it consumes it, and stops paying when it scales down.

Question 2 Cloud Technology and Services

Which component of the AWS global infrastructure caches content close to end users to reduce latency?

  1. Edge locations Correct
  2. Availability Zones
  3. AWS Local Zones
  4. AWS Regions
Why this is the best answer

Correct. Edge locations are the points of presence that Amazon CloudFront and Amazon Route 53 use to serve content and answer requests close to users, without the customer running infrastructure in each geography.

Question 3 Security and Compliance

Under the AWS shared responsibility model, which of the following is the responsibility of the customer for an Amazon EC2 workload?

  1. Patching the physical host firmware
  2. Patching the guest operating system Correct
  3. Maintaining the hypervisor
  4. Securing the data center facilities
Why this is the best answer

Correct. Under the shared responsibility model, AWS is responsible for security of the cloud and the customer is responsible for security in the cloud. For Amazon EC2 that includes the guest operating system, its patches, installed applications and security group configuration.

Question 4 Billing, Pricing, and Support

A company runs a database server on an EC2 instance around the clock and expects to keep it running for at least the next three years. Which purchasing option gives the largest discount compared with On-Demand pricing for this steady, predictable workload?

  1. On-Demand Instances billed per second
  2. Spot Instances
  3. Dedicated Hosts billed On-Demand
  4. Reserved Instances or Savings Plans with a three-year commitment Correct
Why this is the best answer

Correct. Reserved Instances and Savings Plans exchange a one- or three-year commitment for a significant discount over On-Demand, with the three-year term and all-upfront payment producing the deepest savings. Steady, always-on usage is what they are built for.

Every one of the 50 questions works this way: an explanation for the right answer and for the one you picked, so a wrong answer teaches you something. Questions last reviewed against the current AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) objectives.

AWS Cloud Practitioner Practice Test

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the test, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) exam, and how to prepare.

Is this AWS Cloud Practitioner practice test free?

Yes. Training Camp's AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner practice test is free to take. You get 50 exam-style questions across all four CLF-C02 domains, with a written explanation for every answer choice.

How does this practice test work?

It is 50 multiple-choice scenario questions drawn from all four CLF-C02 domains, with an instant explanation after each answer and a 70-minute timer that mirrors the pace of the real exam. You can retake it as often as you want. Treat it as a readiness check rather than a substitute for full preparation.

How many questions are on the real AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

The CLF-C02 exam has 65 questions in 90 minutes. Fifty of them are scored and 15 are unscored items that AWS uses to evaluate future questions. You will not know which are which, so answer every question as if it counts.

What score do I need to pass the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

You need a scaled score of 700 on a scale of 100 to 1000. Scoring is compensatory, so you do not need to pass each domain individually, only the exam as a whole.

What domains does the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam cover?

The four domains are Cloud Concepts (24%), Security and Compliance (30%), Cloud Technology and Services (34%), and Billing, Pricing, and Support (12%). Cloud Technology and Services is the largest and is mostly about recognizing which AWS service fits a described need.

How hard is the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

It is AWS's foundational certification, designed for people in technical and non-technical roles alike, and it tests breadth rather than hands-on depth. Most candidates find the sheer number of service names the hardest part, followed by the shared responsibility model and the differences between pricing options and Support plans.

Do I need experience to take the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

No. There are no prerequisites. AWS recommends up to six months of exposure to the AWS Cloud, but that can come from study and hands-on labs rather than a job, and many candidates take it as their first cloud certification.

How should you prepare for the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam?

Start with the CLF-C02 exam guide and learn what each in-scope service does in one sentence, then use practice questions like these to find your weak domains. If you want a structured path with an instructor and your exam voucher included, our AWS Cloud Practitioner Boot Camp covers all four domains.
