Understanding Alert Fatigue

Alert fatigue is the desensitization that security analysts experience when overwhelmed by a high volume of alerts, many of them false positives or low-priority, causing them to miss, ignore, or slowly respond to genuine threats. It is a major operational challenge in security operations centers and a driver of analyst burnout and turnover. Mitigations include tuning detection rules, prioritizing and correlating alerts, and using automation through SOAR platforms to reduce noise.
