A cloud landing zone is a pre-configured, secure, and scalable multi-account or multi-subscription cloud environment that establishes baseline governance, identity, networking, logging, and security guardrails before workloads are deployed. Providers offer reference implementations such as AWS Control Tower and Azure Landing Zones to codify best practices for account structure, policy enforcement, and centralized auditing. By standing up these foundations as code, organizations enforce consistency and compliance at scale rather than retrofitting controls onto sprawling, ungoverned cloud accounts.
