Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation GDPR, a data processor is a natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or other body that processes personal data on behalf of and under the documented instructions of the data controller. Processors are bound by a written contract per GDPR Article 28 and carry direct obligations including implementing appropriate security measures, maintaining processing records, and assisting the controller with breach notification and data subject rights.
