An implicit trust zone grants default trust inside a perimeter; zero trust (NIST SP 800-207) eliminates it via continuous per-request verification.
Implicit Trust Zone Definition: An implicit trust zone grants default trust inside a perimeter; zero trust (NIST SP 800-207) eliminates it via continuous per-request verification.
An implicit trust zone is a network or system segment where entities are trusted by default once they are inside the perimeter, without continuous verification of identity, device posture, or authorization. Zero trust architecture, as defined in NIST SP 800-207, seeks to eliminate implicit trust zones by enforcing per-request authentication and authorization regardless of network location.
