Understanding WireGuard

WireGuard is a modern, lightweight VPN protocol that uses a fixed suite of state-of-the-art cryptography, including Curve25519 for key exchange, ChaCha20 for encryption, and Poly1305 for authentication. Its minimal codebase of a few thousand lines makes it easier to audit and faster than legacy protocols such as IPsec and OpenVPN. WireGuard operates over UDP and was merged into the Linux kernel in version 5.6.
