Training Camp Expands AI, Cloud, and Foundational Security Catalog

TREVOSE, Pa. — March 2023 — Several additions reached Training Camp’s catalog this spring, including Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals and the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity credential, alongside deeper AWS, Splunk, ITIL, and project-management tracks.

The additions pulled in two directions at once, which was the point. Azure AI Fundamentals and ISC2’s Certified in Cybersecurity, known as CC, are entry-level by design. CC in particular was ISC2’s effort to open a door into security for people with no prior experience, offering a recognized starting credential from the same body behind the CISSP. It carried no experience requirement, which set it apart from most of ISC2’s catalog and made it genuinely reachable for a newcomer.

At the other end, the deeper AWS, Splunk, and ITIL offerings gave working practitioners more room to specialize. Splunk skills mattered to security operations teams drowning in log data, while ITIL spoke to the service-management side of IT. Project management rounded out the practical, career-spanning tracks. Together they gave people already working in IT a way to branch sideways into higher-value specialties without leaving their current roles.

Taken together, the expansion widened the on-ramp for career changers without shortchanging people already in the field. That balance is harder to strike than it sounds, since course catalogs often drift toward one audience or the other. Delivered live online and in person, the new and expanded tracks let a newcomer and a veteran both find something pitched at their level.

“We wanted a beginner and a ten-year veteran to both look at the catalog and see something for them,” said Mike McNelis, Vice President of Sales. “The entry-level credentials open the door, and the deeper tracks give experienced people somewhere to keep going.”

The 2023 expansion reflected growth in both early-career interest and specialized demand, particularly as AI and security operations drew more attention. Training Camp said further additions would follow as the certifications evolved.
