Training Camp Updates CISSP Boot Camp for Eight-Domain CBK

PHILADELPHIA — 2015 — Training Camp has updated its CISSP boot camp to match the reorganized Common Body of Knowledge, which (ISC)² consolidated from ten domains to eight this year.

The change was structural rather than a wholesale rewrite. (ISC)² kept the underlying material and regrouped it, folding related topics together so the CISSP exam moved from ten domains to eight. Candidates studying an old outline would still recognize the content, but the organization and emphasis had shifted, and preparation built on last year’s structure risked spending time in the wrong places.

Training Camp revised the course to track the current domains directly, so candidates studied the exam actually being administered. The audience is experienced security professionals pursuing one of the field’s better-known credentials, people who cannot afford to prepare against a stale outline. The boot camp kept its accelerated, in-person format, walking through each of the eight domains in a concentrated schedule with review geared to the reworked structure.

The revision took effect in April 2015, and courses that lagged behind it risked leaving candidates studying an outline that no longer matched the test in front of them. The eight domains still spanned the full breadth of the credential, from security and risk management through software development security, but the regrouping changed how topics related to one another and where the exam placed its weight. Training Camp rebuilt its review materials and practice questions against the new structure, and instructors flagged the places where a topic had moved so returning candidates would not study from memory tied to the old ten-domain layout.

“When (ISC)² reshuffles the body of knowledge, the worst thing a course can do is keep teaching last year’s version,” said Chris Porter, Chief Executive Officer. “We updated the material so people are studying what is on the exam today.”

CISSP remained one of the most widely recognized credentials in information security, and keeping the boot camp current with each revision to the body of knowledge was part of preparing candidates for the exam as it stood.
