Training Camp Adds CompTIA Cloud Essentials Training

PHILADELPHIA — 2012 — Training Camp added CompTIA Cloud Essentials, a foundational course built as much for managers and business staff as for engineers, covering what cloud computing changes without requiring anyone to configure a server.

By 2012 plenty of people were approving cloud budgets who could not clearly explain what the cloud actually changed. Cloud Essentials was aimed at them. It is a vendor-neutral, non-technical course covering the business and operational side of cloud adoption: the cost model, the shift from buying hardware to renting capacity, the risks and the contractual questions, and how moving to cloud services affects the way an organization runs.

The audience is deliberately different from the usual boot camp room. Project managers, procurement staff, sales and account teams, and business analysts made up much of it, alongside IT people who wanted the business framing rather than the configuration detail. You do not spin up a virtual machine in this course. It was written for the person signing off on the decision, not the one implementing it.

Training Camp delivers it in a short, in-person format. Keeping it accessible was the point, so the material stays on concepts, terminology, and tradeoffs that a non-engineer can carry into a real budget conversation. That focus is exactly what separated it from the deeply technical cloud courses in the catalog. CompTIA had positioned the certification as vendor-neutral on purpose, so the vocabulary a manager learned applied no matter which provider the organization eventually chose.

As cloud services moved from novelty to line item, demand grew for training that helped decision-makers understand the model well enough to govern it.
