Training Camp Adds CompTIA Data+ and Python Boot Camps

TREVOSE, Pa. — April 2022 — Training Camp added two boot camps to its catalog this spring, CompTIA Data+ and a Python programming course, broadening its data and development tracks as analytics and scripting spread into more technical roles.

CompTIA introduced Data+ as a vendor-neutral credential for people who work with data analytics, covering the gathering, analysis, and reporting that turn raw numbers into something a business can act on. It was aimed less at data scientists and more at the analysts and IT staff increasingly expected to make sense of data as part of the job. The credential arrived as organizations of every size were collecting more information than they knew what to do with, and the people asked to interpret it often had no formal analytics background.

Python filled a different need. The language had become a common thread across IT and security work, from automating routine tasks to parsing logs to building small tools. Security teams in particular leaned on it for the kind of quick scripting that saves hours of manual effort. Unlike a heavier computer-science path, picking up enough Python to be useful did not require months of study.

Putting the two together reflected where a lot of practitioners were heading. You did not have to become a full-time developer or analyst to benefit from either skill, and both showed up in job postings well outside their original niches. Delivered live online and in person, the boot camps gave working professionals a focused way to pick them up.

“We kept hearing from students who needed to work with data or write a bit of code, even though it wasn’t their main job,” said Mike McNelis, Vice President of Sales. “Data+ and Python were the two that kept coming up, so those are the ones we built.”

The additions extended Training Camp beyond its security and cloud core into skills that cut across departments, a reflection of how blurred the lines between IT roles had become by 2022.
