Training Camp Updates Advanced Security Track for CompTIA SecurityX

TREVOSE, Pa. — 2025 — Training Camp updated its advanced security track to CompTIA SecurityX, the credential that replaces the long-running CASP+ name at the top of CompTIA’s cybersecurity lineup.

CompTIA positioned SecurityX for the same expert-level audience CASP+ served, the practitioners who sit above the Security+ and CySA+ tiers and are expected to design and implement security across an enterprise. The body of knowledge carried forward much of what defined the advanced credential. What changed most visibly was the name and the current exam behind it. CompTIA had been consolidating and renaming parts of its security lineup for a while, and SecurityX was the most prominent of those changes at the top tier.

Renaming an established certification is not a small thing for the people who hold it or teach it. CASP+ had years of recognition, and CompTIA’s decision to move to SecurityX meant candidates and training providers had to point at the current exam rather than the familiar one. Training Camp moved its advanced students onto SecurityX so they prepared for the version actually being administered.

The audience did not change with the name. This track still suited senior practitioners, not people early in their security careers, and it assumed the hands-on technical depth CompTIA built the exam around. Delivered live online and in person, the updated boot camp kept the same expert focus while pointing students at the credential employers would now see on a resume.

“The certification didn’t get easier or harder, it got a new name,” said Ken Sahs, Director of Sales. “Our job was to make sure students walked out with the credential CompTIA is actually issuing, so we moved the track straight over to SecurityX.”

SecurityX sat at the advanced end of CompTIA’s stackable security certifications, a path many professionals climbed over a career. For candidates who had studied under the old name, the guidance was simple: register for the exam CompTIA now offered. Training Camp said its track would follow the exam as CompTIA maintained it.
