Training Camp Launches Live Online Boot Camps

TREVOSE, Pa. — June 2018 — Training Camp has launched live online boot camps, bringing its instructor-led classroom courses to students anywhere over real-time video.

The format carries over what the in-person boot camps already did, delivered remotely. Students join a live instructor over video, work through the same hands-on labs, and receive the same exam-day support, without traveling to a classroom. The point was to keep the parts that make the boot camp work, the live instruction and the real-time back and forth, while removing the trip.

For professionals who could not spare the travel, or whose employers balked at the cost of sending them, the remote option opened a door that had been closed. It suits self-disciplined learners comfortable keeping pace with a live class on a screen. Someone who needs the accountability of a physical room may still prefer to attend in person, and Training Camp continued to offer both.

The move followed years of running boot camps in classrooms and hotels around the country, a model that worked but that priced out anyone who could not travel or take a full week away in one place. Video conferencing had matured to the point where a live class could run over it without the lag and dropouts that would have made instruction painful a few years earlier. Training Camp kept the schedule and the curriculum identical to the classroom version, so a student joining remotely sat the same intensive days and prepared for the same exam.

“We kept hearing from people who wanted the class but could not justify the flights and hotels,” said Chris Porter, Chief Executive Officer. “Live online gives them a seat in the room without the travel, and it is the same instructor teaching the same material.”

The launch extended Training Camp’s accelerated model to a wider audience, letting individuals and corporate teams take part in real-time instruction regardless of where they were based.
