Training Camp Expands Microsoft Developer Training Catalog

TREVOSE, Pa. — September 2024 — New developer-focused courses joined Training Camp’s Microsoft catalog this fall, giving software teams accelerated paths to Microsoft’s developer and Azure credentials.

Microsoft’s certification program had steadily reorganized around roles, and the developer side covered the skills involved in building and deploying applications on Azure. That work sits apart from administering cloud infrastructure. A developer cares about writing code, wiring up services, and shipping software, and Microsoft’s developer credentials are pitched at exactly that. Microsoft had spent years splitting its once-broad certifications into role-based ones, and the developer credentials were among the clearest examples of that thinking.

The new courses aimed at software teams rather than individual test-takers, though both could use them. For a development group standardizing on Microsoft tools, moving several engineers through the same accelerated training at once meant they came out sharing an approach and a vocabulary. That consistency is often worth more to a team than any single certificate.

The tradeoff with any accelerated developer course is prerequisites. These are not introductions to programming. They assume people who already write code and want to validate or extend their Azure skills, and the students who benefited most came in with that footing. The best outcomes came when a manager sent a team that was already shipping to Azure and wanted to formalize what it had picked up on the job. Delivered live online and in person, the expanded catalog let Microsoft-focused teams pick the developer paths that matched the work in front of them.

As more organizations built on Azure, demand for developers who could prove their skills on the platform kept growing. Training Camp said the developer catalog would expand further in step with Microsoft’s certification updates.
