    Yes. Microsoft is retiring the AZ-500 exam and the Azure Security Engineer Associate certification on August 31, 2026, including the renewal assessment. SC-500 is the successor path.

    It stays on your Microsoft Learn transcript and remains verifiable. It sits in Active Certifications until its normal expiration date, then moves to Historical Certifications.

    No. SC-500 is a separate credential with no conversion path, no transition exam, and no credit for holding AZ-500. You earn it by passing the SC-500 exam.

    Four domains. Manage identity, access, and governance at 20 to 25 percent. Secure storage, databases, and networking at 25 to 30 percent. Secure compute at 20 to 25 percent. Manage and monitor security posture at 20 to 25 percent.

    Inside the Secure compute domain, not as a separate domain. It covers Purview DSPM for Copilot and AI app risk, Copilot Studio agent protection, conditional access and blast radius analysis for Entra Agent ID, AI Gateway in Azure API Management for Microsoft Foundry, Defender for AI Service, and Foundry agent guardrails.

    Through Pearson VUE, either online proctored or at a test center. A score of 700 or greater is required to pass.

    Practical experience administering Azure and hybrid environments across compute, network, and storage, strong familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, and familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration.
