Cloud+ (CV0-004) is CompTIA’s vendor-neutral certification for the people who keep cloud infrastructure running day to day: deployment, security, operations, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery across public, private, and hybrid environments. It fits IT professionals, cloud administrators, network engineers, and systems architects who already work with infrastructure and want the cloud side of that work validated.

Most organizations no longer run on one provider. Workloads sit across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and on-premises hardware at the same time, and one operations team owns all of it. Cloud+ is the CompTIA credential aimed at running those mixed environments rather than building on a single platform, which is why it turns up in infrastructure and operations job requirements.

Cloud+ maps to cloud administrator, cloud engineer, systems administrator, network administrator, cloud operations analyst, and infrastructure support roles. Because it is vendor-neutral, it also travels with you when your employer changes platforms, which is the usual reason hiring managers ask for it alongside a provider certification.

They answer different questions. An AWS or Azure certification proves you know one provider’s services and console. Cloud+ proves you can deploy, secure, size, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure whoever is hosting it, including the hybrid connections back to your own data center. Teams running more than one platform usually want both, and Cloud+ is the one that stays valid when the platform mix changes.

No prior cloud experience is required, though you should be comfortable with IT infrastructure basics: networking, storage, virtualization, and system administration. CompTIA suggests a couple of years in a systems or network administration role before sitting CV0-004, and that background is what the labs assume.

The labs mirror the performance-based questions on the exam, which is where most candidates lose points.
