About AAIA Certification Training

The Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification is the first advanced audit-specific artificial intelligence certification designed for experienced auditors. Introduced by ISACA®, the leader in IT audit, this certification builds on the skills validated by ISACA’s CISA® or those of qualified CIA (IIA), or CPA (AICPA) holders. The AAIA certification empowers auditing professionals to stand up to the challenge and become leaders in the emerging AI future.

Training Camp has established itself as a leading provider of AAIA certification preparation, with industry-leading pass rates and experienced instructors. Our program includes complete study materials aligned with ISACA’s requirements, real-world AI audit case studies, and expert instruction to ensure you’re fully prepared for the certification exam.

AAIA certification is designed for experienced auditors who already hold CISA, CIA, or CPA certifications and want to expand their expertise into AI audit domains. This globally recognized credential is ideal for audit professionals, IT auditors, compliance officers, and audit managers who need to understand how to audit AI systems, assess AI risks, and implement AI governance frameworks in their organizations.

ISACA AAIA Boot Camp

Before Class
Pre-Class Checklist
  • Download and review the AAIA Exam Content Outline from ISACA to understand the structure, topics, and weighting of exam domains.
  • Familiarize yourself with AI audit frameworks such as NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001 to build a solid foundation in governance and risk related to AI systems.

Why it Matters

Because AI auditing requires both technical fluency and risk-based thinking, early exposure to the exam structure and key frameworks allows students to engage more confidently and effectively during the accelerated class sessions.

Day 1 – Foundations and Governance
Morning Session: Introduction to AI and Audit Readiness
  • We begin the day by unpacking what artificial intelligence really means in an enterprise context, distinguishing concepts like machine learning, natural language processing, and automated decision-making, while also exploring how these technologies introduce unique risks that differ from traditional IT systems. This session also introduces students to the end-to-end AI lifecycle — from data sourcing to model deployment — and gives them an essential vocabulary to understand issues like model drift, bias, and explainability, while mapping out the key roles responsible for governing AI systems within an organization.
Afternoon Session: AI Governance and Risk
  • In the second half of the day, we take a deeper dive into the governance structures required to manage AI systems effectively, examining frameworks like COSO and ISO/IEC 42001, reviewing major regulatory efforts including GDPR and the EU AI Act, and discussing the importance of ethical principles such as fairness, accountability, and transparency. We then explore how to create internal AI policies, align governance with enterprise risk goals, and build risk registers that reflect the complexity and dynamism of AI models in production environments.

Why it Matters

Without proper governance, AI systems can introduce uncontrolled risks, bias, and legal exposure — and much of a successful AI audit depends on knowing whether the right oversight mechanisms were in place from the beginning.

Day 2 – Operational Audits and Tools
Morning Session: AI Operations and Lifecycle Risks
  • Day two begins by focusing on how AI systems function in practice, looking closely at the full model lifecycle including data ingestion, feature engineering, training, testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring. We identify the most audit-critical control points throughout this lifecycle, such as training data quality, performance drift, and explainability limitations, while also covering risk scenarios involving third-party AI vendors, shadow IT, and misaligned business use cases. Students learn how to recognize security vulnerabilities in AI operations and how to factor AI into broader business continuity and incident response strategies.
Afternoon Session: AI Auditing Tools and Exam Prep
  • In the final session, students learn how to scope and plan AI-specific audits using tailored audit methodologies, distinguish between risk-based and model-centric approaches, and conduct evaluations on outcomes such as fairness, compliance, and model accuracy. They gain hands-on exposure to audit documentation and evidence collection in contexts where the AI system is a black box or proprietary tool. The session ends with a focused set of practice questions, exam strategies, and guidance on how to approach the AAIA test with confidence and clarity.

Why it Matters

AI systems don’t just need to be governed — they need to be continuously evaluated in real-time, and auditors must understand both how to interrogate the technology and how to measure its ongoing impact on risk, compliance, and outcomes.
