Blacklisting Definition: Security method blocking access to known malicious entities
Blacklisting in cybersecurity is a security technique where a specific list of known malicious entities such as IP addresses email addresses domains applications or file hashes is created and maintained to deny them access to systems or resources. While effective against known threats blacklisting requires continuous updates and cannot protect against previously unidentified threats leading many organizations to complement it with whitelisting approaches for comprehensive security.
