Botnet Definition: Network of compromised computers controlled remotely by attackers
A botnet is a collection of internet-connected devices including computers servers and IoT devices that have been infected with malware allowing attackers to control them remotely without the owners knowledge. These compromised devices known as bots or zombies can be coordinated to perform distributed denial-of-service attacks steal data spread ransomware or send spam. Botnets can range from hundreds to millions of infected devices making them a significant threat to internet security.
