Breach Definition: Unauthorized access to sensitive protected information
A data breach is a security incident where sensitive protected or confidential information is accessed disclosed altered destructed or stolen by unauthorized individuals. Breaches can occur through various attack vectors including hacking malware insider threats physical theft and social engineering. Organizations must implement preventive measures such as encryption access controls and security awareness training along with incident response plans to address breaches when they occur.
