A Gateway in cybersecurity is a network node that serves as an access point to another network, typically acting as a barrier between internal and external systems. Gateways control traffic between networks through routing and filtering functions, and are commonly used for security enforcement. Modern gateways often incorporate advanced functions like firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPN tunnels, and packet inspection to monitor, allow, or block traffic based on policies.
