Geofencing is a security mechanism that creates a virtual geographic boundary, enabling software to trigger actions or enforce rules when a device enters or leaves the defined area. In cybersecurity, geofencing is used to restrict data access, system logins, or application functionality based on the user's geographic location. It is widely used in mobile device management MDM, access control policies, and fraud prevention systems to ensure sensitive data is not accessed from unauthorized regions.
