Never trust, always verify is the foundational principle of zero trust security, which holds that no user, device, or network connection should be implicitly trusted based on location or prior authentication. Every access request must be continuously authenticated, authorized, and validated against policy using context such as identity, device posture, and behavior. This principle replaces the traditional perimeter model that assumed everything inside the network was trustworthy.
