The NIST AI Risk Management Framework AI RMF, published as NIST AI 100-1 in January 2023, is a voluntary, sector-agnostic framework for managing risks across the lifecycle of artificial intelligence systems. It is organized around four core functions, Govern, Map, Measure, and Manage, and promotes the development of AI that is trustworthy, encompassing properties such as validity, safety, security, fairness, accountability, transparency, and privacy. An accompanying Playbook and Generative AI Profile provide practical implementation guidance.
