Pseudonymization replaces identifiers with pseudonyms so data cannot be linked to individuals without separately held keys, reducing privacy risk.
Pseudonymization Definition: Pseudonymization replaces identifiers with pseudonyms so data cannot be linked to individuals without separately held keys, reducing privacy risk.
Pseudonymization is a data protection technique that replaces identifying fields with artificial identifiers, or pseudonyms, so that data can no longer be attributed to a specific individual without additional information kept separately. Unlike anonymization, it is reversible when the separate key is available, and under the GDPR pseudonymized data remains personal data subject to protection. It reduces privacy risk while preserving data utility for analytics and processing.
Pseudonymization is one of the topics you'll master in the CDPSE Boot Camp.
