Port Numbers Definition: Port numbers are numerical identifiers used by network protocols to distinguish between different types of traffic on a network.
Port numbers are unique identifiers assigned to processes or services that use the Internet Protocol (IP) for communication. They help in directing incoming data packets to the appropriate application or service running on a computer or network. Each port number corresponds to a specific service, such as web browsing (port 80 for HTTP), secure web browsing (port 443 for HTTPS), email (port 25 for SMTP), etc.
