Private Certificate Authority Definition: Private Certificate Authority is a dedicated entity that issues and manages digital certificates within an organization's internal network or for a specific set of users or devices, enabling secure communication and authentication without reliance on public certificate authorities.
A Private Certificate Authority (CA) is an entity that issues and manages digital certificates within an organization's internal network. It acts as a trusted third party that verifies the identity of users, devices, or services and binds their public key to their identity. Private CAs are used to establish secure communication channels, authenticate users and devices, and enable encrypted data transmission within a closed system, such as an enterprise network or a private cloud environment. This helps ensure confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of information exchanged within the organization.
