It operates on UDP port 161 and provides a framework for monitoring and configuring network devices, such as routers, switches, printers, and servers. SNMPv1 sends data in clear text, making it vulnerable to security risks like eavesdropping and unauthorized access. Despite its limitations, SNMPv1 is still used in some legacy systems.
