SYN Flood Definition: A SYN flood is a type of DDoS attack where an attacker sends a high volume of TCP connection requests to overwhelm the target server, preventing legitimate connections.
A SYN Flood is a type of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack where an attacker sends a succession of SYN requests to a target server, overwhelming it with a large volume of connection requests and causing the server to become unresponsive to legitimate traffic. This attack exploits the TCP three-way handshake process by not completing the handshake after the server responds with a SYN-ACK, tying up resources and preventing new connections from being established.
