SecOT+ is CompTIA’s certification for operational technology security, covering the systems that run manufacturing plants, utilities, pipelines, transport and building control. It is aimed at people who already work in or alongside OT and need to secure it: control engineers, plant IT staff, SOC analysts covering industrial networks, and security professionals moving into critical infrastructure.
CompTIA targets SecOT+ at control engineers and OT cybersecurity engineers with at least three years of hands-on experience working in OT environments and two years implementing cybersecurity technologies and solutions in an OT environment. No prior CompTIA certification is required, but you should already be comfortable around industrial systems before you sit it.
Security+ and SecurityX are IT security certifications. SecOT+ covers what changes when the asset being protected is physical: availability outranks confidentiality, patching windows are measured in months rather than days, and an outage can have a safety consequence. If your work touches PLCs, SCADA or a plant network, SecOT+ is the certification aimed at you.
The exam is built on six domains: OT Systems and Safety Foundations, OT Risk Management, OT Threat Intelligence, OT Cybersecurity Architecture, Design and Engineering, OT Security Operations, and OT Incident Management. Our four-day course covers every one of them, with the published exam objectives built into the schedule rather than left to self-study.
Your exam is included in the course price, and so is your retake. The exam itself is multiple-choice and performance-based. CompTIA confirms question count, test length and passing score at launch, and we update this page the day those details are published.
