The Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK) is the original vendor-neutral cloud security credential, issued by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) since 2010. It validates foundational knowledge of cloud security across every major platform and is widely recognized as the baseline credential for cloud security roles.
The class runs two days, 9 AM to 5 PM EST, delivered live online by a CSA-authorized instructor. It covers all 12 domains of CSA’s Security Guidance v5.
Yes. Your registration includes a CCSK v5 exam voucher with two attempts and a two-year expiration window. The exam itself is scheduled and taken on your own time after class.
The CCSK exam is 60 multiple-choice questions, open-book, delivered online. You have 120 minutes to complete it, and the passing score is 80%.
No formal prerequisites. CCSK Foundation is designed for any experience level, though a basic understanding of security fundamentals (firewalls, encryption, IAM) is helpful. The class works well for both security professionals and non-security roles like developers, IT operations, audit, and compliance.
Anyone responsible for cloud security, including security analysts, cloud and software engineers, architects, auditors, GRC professionals, product managers, and IT leaders. CCSK is broad enough to serve both technical and non-technical roles working in or alongside cloud environments.
CCSK Foundation is a two-day lecture-based class covering all 12 v5 domains and preparing you for the CCSK exam. CCSK Plus adds a third day of hands-on labs in real cloud environments. Foundation is the right starting point if you want the credential and core knowledge; Plus is for practitioners who want immersive lab experience.
The CCSK is a foundational, certificate-level credential that proves you understand cloud security concepts, with no experience requirement. The CCSP is a senior certification requiring five years of work experience and covers cloud architecture, operations, and risk at greater depth. Many professionals earn the CCSK first as a stepping stone to the CCSP.
No. The CCSK is not currently listed on the DoD 8140 Approved Qualifications Matrix V2.1. For DoD 8140 cloud security work roles, the CCSP from ISC2 is the relevant credential to pursue.
No. The CCSK certificate does not expire, and there are no CPE credits or renewal fees required to maintain it. CSA periodically releases new versions of the exam (v5 launched July 2024), so it is worth upgrading to stay aligned with the latest cloud security guidance.
Your voucher includes two attempts. If you have used both and still have not passed, you can retake the full class within one year at no cost so you can sharpen up before another exam attempt. A second exam token would be purchased separately if needed.
The CCSK Foundation v5 boot camp qualifies for 14 CPE credits. Those credits can be applied toward maintaining other security certifications you may hold, including CISSP, CCSP, CISM, and similar.
