Pass Your ISC2 ISSEP Exam on the First Try

The Information Systems Security Engineering Professional (ISSEP) is an advanced ISC2 concentration certification designed for security leaders who specialize in applying systems engineering principles to develop secure systems. It’s ideal for current CISSP holders who work as security engineers, systems security specialists, or professionals who analyze organizational needs, define security requirements, design security architectures, and support system security assessment and authorization for government and industry.

Candidates must be a CISSP in good standing with two years of cumulative, full-time experience in one or more of the five ISSEP domains. Alternatively, candidates can have a minimum of seven years of cumulative, full-time experience in two or more domains. A post-secondary degree in computer science, IT, or related fields may satisfy one year of the required experience, and part-time work and internships may also count toward the experience requirement.

The ISSEP exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions that must be completed in 3 hours, with a passing score of 700 out of 1000 points. The exam is challenging and designed to test your ability to apply systems engineering principles to real-world security scenarios. ISC2 uses complex scenarios and distractors to evaluate your systems engineering thinking, making comprehensive preparation essential for success.

The ISSEP exam covers five domains: Systems Security Engineering Foundations (24%), Risk Management (20%), Security Planning and Engineering (22%), Systems Security Implementation, Verification and Validation (20%), and Secure Operations, Change Management and Disposal (14%). Each domain focuses on critical aspects of security engineering from foundational principles through operational support and system disposal.
