Three full days of live, instructor-led Terraform training built around the eight HashiCorp Terraform Associate exam objectives. You write HCL in hands-on labs against real cloud providers, then finish with a mock Terraform Associate exam.
Course Retake Included
Full Exam Curriculum
Three days for DevOps engineers, developers, system and cloud administrators, and network engineers who need to write and maintain Terraform for real infrastructure and sit the Terraform Associate exam with confidence.
The Terraform Associate exam covers the full Terraform workflow, from infrastructure as code concepts and HCL basics through modules, state, and HCP Terraform. This three-day boot camp is hands-on, lab-based Terraform training built around all eight exam objectives. You install Terraform, write HCL with variables, locals and outputs, build your own module, move and repair state, and deploy against AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The class ends with a mock Terraform Associate exam and a certification project.
The syllabus covers all eight Terraform Associate objectives published by HashiCorp, from infrastructure as code and Terraform fundamentals through the core workflow, configuration, modules, state management, maintaining infrastructure, and HCP Terraform.
All eight objectives are worked hands-on, not just lectured. You run init, plan and apply against real providers, write modules and tfvars files, move state, import existing infrastructure, and trigger cloud builds from Git commits before the mock exam.
Labs deploy real resources with HCL against AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and VMware. The same syntax, state model and workflow apply to every provider, so what you build in class transfers to any environment.
Immersive classroom instruction with direct instructor access, hands-on labs and peer collaboration.
The same instructors and curriculum, delivered live from anywhere on our virtual learning platform.
Standardized on Azure? Take Managing Azure with Terraform.
This class is provider-neutral, with labs across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. If your team deploys only to Azure, the 3-day Managing Azure with Terraform class covers the same eight Terraform Associate objectives with every lab in an Azure subscription.

HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004) is issued by HashiCorp and tests Terraform 1.12 across eight exam objectives, from infrastructure as code concepts to state management. This Terraform training is built to prepare you for it.
Three full days of live online, instructor-led training. Each day pairs lecture with hands-on labs written in HCL against real providers, and the class closes with a mock Terraform Associate exam and a certification project.
You install Terraform, then spend the class in the terminal: writing variables, locals and outputs, building a module, moving state with terraform state mv, importing existing AWS infrastructure, correcting resource drift, and provisioning with tfvars files and dynamic blocks.
The Terraform Associate exam covers Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Terraform fundamentals, the core Terraform workflow, Terraform configuration, Terraform modules, Terraform state management, maintaining infrastructure with Terraform, and HCP Terraform. The syllabus follows that map.
Terraform is used across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and the same HCL, provider and state skills transfer between them. Learning Terraform once gives you an infrastructure as code workflow you can carry to any team or cloud.
You may retake the class at no cost within one year of your original session. Post-class mentoring lets you ask an instructor questions while you finish preparing for the Terraform Associate exam.
A structured path designed for working professionals.
Each day builds on the last—momentum is everything.
Accelerated, hands-on learning to get you upskilled, Terraform Associate certified, and back to work.
The credential, the capability, and the continued readiness — all in one boot camp.
Real questions from real professionals who passed.
Here's
how we answer them.
HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004) is a certification issued by HashiCorp that proves you understand infrastructure as code and can use Terraform’s core workflow, configuration, modules, and state. The exam currently tests Terraform 1.12, and the certification is valid for 2 years. Terraform training that works every objective in the lab prepares you for it.
The class runs three full days, delivered live online by an instructor. Each day combines lecture with hands-on labs written in HCL against real cloud providers, following all eight Terraform Associate exam objectives from source control and HCL syntax through modules, state, and HCP Terraform. The class ends with a mock Terraform Associate exam and a certification project.
No. The Terraform Associate exam is purchased separately from HashiCorp for $70.50 plus applicable taxes, and you schedule it yourself on the HashiCorp certification site as an online proctored exam. HashiCorp does not include a retake in that fee. Tuition covers the three-day class, courseware, the hands-on lab environment, a mock exam, post-class mentoring, and a free course retake within one year.
The Terraform Associate exam is 1 hour long, online proctored, and multiple choice. It covers eight objectives, from infrastructure as code concepts and Terraform basics through the core workflow, modules, state, configuration, and HCP Terraform. The current exam, version 004, tests Terraform 1.12. HashiCorp does not publish the number of questions.
HashiCorp does not publish the passing score for the Terraform Associate exam, and it does not publish the question count either. The exam is 1 hour and multiple choice across eight objectives. This Terraform training works every objective hands-on, and the mock exam on the final day shows you where you stand before you book the real test.
You need basic terminal skills and an understanding of on-premises and cloud architecture, which are HashiCorp’s stated prerequisites for the Terraform Associate exam. The class itself starts with installing Terraform and an introduction to the tool. Before class, make sure the accounts, software, and online resources you will use in the labs are set up and working, since the labs deploy into real cloud providers.
The Terraform Essentials boot camp is for DevOps engineers, software developers, technical managers and leads, system and cloud administrators, and network engineers and developers. It fits anyone who needs to write and understand Terraform HCL, know when to reach for Terraform over another infrastructure as code tool such as Ansible, and prepare for the Terraform Associate exam.
The labs are written in HCL against real providers. You set up source control with GitHub or GitLab, install Terraform, and work through variables, locals, outputs, workspaces, functions, modules, moving state, tfvars files, data sources, importing existing AWS infrastructure, for_each loops, provisioners, templatefile, HCP Terraform builds from Git commits, and dynamic blocks. You then deploy into AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and VMware, and pair Terraform with Ansible.
Terraform Essentials is the default choice. It is provider-neutral, with labs across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and VMware, and it covers all eight Terraform Associate objectives. Managing Azure with Terraform covers the same Associate objectives with every lab in Azure, so it is the right pick for teams standardized on Azure.
The Terraform Associate certification is valid for 2 years from the date you earn it. To stay certified, you recertify by passing the current version of the exam again before your expiration date. HashiCorp sets the renewal process, so check the Terraform Associate certification page for the current requirements as your date approaches.
No. The Terraform Associate is not listed on the DoD 8140 Approved Qualifications Matrix. If you need a credential for a DoD 8140 work role, check the current Approved Qualifications Matrix for that role before choosing a certification. The Terraform Associate remains useful for infrastructure as code work inside and outside government.
You may retake the class at no cost within one year of your original session, and post-class mentoring is available while you prepare for a second attempt. HashiCorp does not include a retake in the exam fee, so a second attempt means purchasing another exam from HashiCorp at $70.50 plus applicable taxes.
Often, yes. Many certifying bodies accept vendor training hours toward continuing education requirements, and a three-day instructor-led class often qualifies. Requirements differ by organization, so check with your certifying body for how it counts Terraform training hours and what documentation it needs before you submit the class.
