Container escape, or breakout, is an attack where a containerized process bypasses isolation to compromise the host OS or other containers.
Container Escape Definition: Container escape, or breakout, is an attack where a containerized process bypasses isolation to compromise the host OS or other containers.
A container escape, also called a container breakout, is an attack in which a process running inside a container bypasses isolation boundaries to gain access to the host operating system or other containers. It typically exploits misconfigurations such as privileged containers and exposed host sockets, kernel vulnerabilities, or insecure mounts of the host filesystem. A successful escape can lead to full host compromise and lateral movement across a cluster, making it a critical concern in containerized and Kubernetes environments.
Container Escape is one of the topics you'll master in the Official ISC2 CCSP Boot Camp.
