Living Off the Land Binary LOLBin Definition: A Living off the Land Binary LOLBin is a trusted native OS tool that attackers abuse to evade detection; the LOLBAS project catalogs them.
A Living off the Land Binary, or LOLBin, is a legitimate, signed binary, script, or library native to an operating system that an attacker abuses to carry out malicious actions such as code execution, downloading payloads, or bypassing security controls. Because these tools are trusted and pre-installed, their misuse helps adversaries blend into normal activity and evade allowlisting and detection. The community-curated LOLBAS project catalogs known Windows binaries and their abusable functions.
