Understanding Passive Identity

Passive Identity refers to user identity information that a security system learns passively, without requiring the user to actively authenticate. Instead of prompting for credentials, the system maps users to IP addresses by collecting identity data from sources such as Active Directory authentication logs, identity services (e.g., ISE), or directory agents. This allows firewalls and access-control systems to apply identity-based policies transparently, without interrupting the user's session.
