In Transport Mode, an IPsec connection encrypts only the payload of data packets, leaving the original IP header unencrypted.
Transport Mode Definition: In Transport Mode, an IPsec connection encrypts only the payload of data packets, leaving the original IP header unencrypted.
Transport Mode in cybersecurity refers to a method of deploying a Virtual Private Network (VPN) where only the payload â the actual data being transmitted â is encrypted. The header information remains unencrypted, allowing for routing information to be visible. This contrasts with Tunnel Mode, where both the payload and header are encrypted. Transport Mode provides secure communication between individual hosts, ensuring data confidentiality and integrity during transmission.
