EC-Council recommends three years of IT or cybersecurity experience. If you attend official training, that is your qualifying path and the application fee is included in your course. If you sit the exam without training, you must apply with a minimum of two years of experience in an information security domain and pay a one hundred dollar application fee.

The exam code is 312-41. It has 100 multiple choice questions and a three hour time limit, delivered through the EC-Council exam portal with remote proctoring. EC-Council uses a variable cut score set per exam form, generally in the 70 to 80 percent range, to account for differences in question difficulty.
