Passing PL-900 earns Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals, a beginner-level Microsoft credential.

Microsoft gives you 45 minutes. Expect between 40 and 60 questions, and a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 to pass.
Five skill areas, weighted as published by Microsoft: Describe the business value of Microsoft Power Platform (5-10%); Manage the Microsoft Power Platform environment (20-25%); Demonstrate the capabilities of Power Apps (20-25%); Demonstrate the capabilities of Power Automate (20-25%); Describe features and capabilities of agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio (20-25%).
Yes. The skills measured were updated on 24 July 2026. Copilot Studio agents now carry a fifth of the exam on their own, and the Power Apps and Power Automate areas both ask how AI is used to create and modify apps and flows. We teach to that version.
Microsoft writes this exam for the app maker role: business users, analysts, functional consultants and anyone about to be handed a Power Platform environment. Developers taking it as a stepping stone to PL-400 or AB-410 also fit.
None. Microsoft enforces no prerequisite certification for PL-900 and the exam assumes no prior Power Platform experience.
Microsoft applies its fundamentals policy to PL-900, so there is no annual renewal assessment. The associate and expert credentials above it do renew each year.
AB-410 if you want to build intelligent applications with low code, PL-400 or AB-400 if you write code against the platform, and PL-300 if your work is reporting and Power BI.
