Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate. That certification is unchanged by the exam rename: PL-400 earns it today, AB-400 earns it from 16 October 2026.
It is being renamed. Microsoft has published three dates. Registration for PL-400 closes on 16 October 2026 and registration opens exclusively for AB-400 the same day. Anyone who registered for PL-400 on or before 16 October can still schedule and sit it through 30 October 2026. The updated AB-400 exam is available from 16 October 2026.
If you can sit before 30 October 2026 and you are already registered, PL-400 still counts. Otherwise book AB-400. We teach the AB-400 skills outline either way, because that is the version Microsoft publishes as current from 16 October.

Yes. A $165 exam voucher is issued with your enrollment.
Microsoft has not published an exam length for AB-400 yet, and it no longer lists one for PL-400 either. Expect between 40 and 60 questions and a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 to pass, which is Microsoft’s standard for role-based exams. We will confirm the timing with you before you book.
Four, weighted as published by Microsoft: Build Microsoft Power Platform solutions (15-20%); Extend the user experience (25-30%); Extend Microsoft Power Platform (35-40%); Develop integrations (10-15%).
The AI and agent material. The heaviest domain now covers Power Platform managed identity for plug-ins, the Dataverse SDKs for .NET and Python, MCP servers, integrating custom agents with Dataverse through Work IQ, and consuming Copilot Studio agents from the Copilot Studio client library. Code apps also appear throughout the user experience domain alongside PCF and Client API.
Developers who already write C#, JavaScript or TypeScript and are building on Dataverse: plug-ins, custom APIs, PCF components, code apps, custom connectors and integrations into Azure.
Microsoft enforces no prerequisite certification. It does assume working knowledge of Power Platform services, JavaScript, JSON, TypeScript, Power Fx, C#, Python, HTML, YAML, RESTful web APIs and Azure. If none of that is familiar, start with PL-900 or AB-410.
