Understanding Routing Loop

Routing Loop: In networking, a routing loop occurs when a packet is continuously circulated within a network due to incorrect routing information. This can result in excessive bandwidth consumption, delays in packet delivery, and ultimately network instability. Routing loops are typically prevented by implementing mechanisms such as split horizon, route poisoning, and hold-down timers in routing protocols like OSPF and EIGRP.
