Terraform Essentials Boot Camp
Hello, you are using an old browser that's unsafe and no longer supported. Please consider updating your browser to a newer version, or downloading a modern browser.
Training Camp teaches Terraform as live online, hands-on boot camps built to the eight HashiCorp Terraform Associate exam objectives, with every student writing and applying HCL against real cloud accounts from the first morning. Take the provider-neutral Terraform Essentials class, or the Managing Azure with Terraform class if your team runs on Azure.
For the engineers who write infrastructure as code. Both classes cover the same eight Terraform Associate objectives with daily HCL labs: Terraform fundamentals, the core init, plan and apply workflow, configuration, modules, state management, maintaining existing infrastructure and HCP Terraform. Terraform Essentials runs its labs across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud and ends with a mock Terraform Associate exam. Managing Azure with Terraform puts every lab in an Azure subscription and ends with a certification project instead of a mock exam.

Managing Azure with Terraform Boot Camp
Terraform builds the platform and Kubernetes runs the workloads on it, so the two skills usually travel together on platform and DevOps teams. The Certified Kubernetes Administrator is the natural next credential once you hold the Terraform Associate. Take the five-day CKA boot camp if you already work at a Linux command line, or start with the two-day Kubernetes Fundamentals class if containers are new to you.

HashiCorp issues the HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004) credential and runs the exam program. Training Camp is an independent training company. Our Terraform Essentials and Managing Azure with Terraform boot camps are hands-on classes built to the eight published exam objectives, and you register for the exam yourself with HashiCorp when you are ready to test.
No. The Terraform Associate exam is purchased separately from HashiCorp for $70.50 USD plus applicable taxes, and HashiCorp does not include a free retake, so a second attempt means a second exam fee. The course price covers the live instruction, courseware, the hands-on cloud lab environment, post-class mentoring and a free course retake within one year.
The Terraform Associate (004) is an online, proctored, multiple choice exam that runs one hour and tests Terraform 1.12. HashiCorp does not publish the number of questions or the passing score, so plan to be comfortable across all eight objectives rather than aiming for a cutoff. The certification is valid for two years from the date you pass.
Both three-day classes cover the same eight exam objectives with hands-on HCL labs, so either prepares you for the Terraform Associate. Take Terraform Essentials if you work across providers or want the broadest view: its labs run on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, and it ends with a mock exam. Take Managing Azure with Terraform if your team is standardized on Azure: every lab runs in an Azure subscription, and the class ends with a certification project.
Basic terminal skills and a working understanding of on-premises and cloud architecture: what a virtual machine, network and storage account are, and how they fit together. Those are also the prerequisites HashiCorp lists for the exam. You do not need prior Terraform experience. The classes start with the basics of HCL and the init, plan and apply workflow before moving into modules, state and HCP Terraform.
The labs work through all eight Terraform Associate objectives: infrastructure as code concepts, Terraform fundamentals, the core init, plan and apply workflow, writing configuration in HCL, building and consuming modules, managing state, maintaining existing infrastructure with Terraform, and HCP Terraform. In Terraform Essentials the labs run across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud accounts. In Managing Azure with Terraform every lab runs in an Azure subscription.
No. The HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate is not on the DoD 8140 Approved Qualifications Matrix as of this writing. Infrastructure as code skills are still in demand on federal cloud and platform teams, but if your role requires an 8140-listed credential, check the current Approved Qualifications Matrix before you enroll and plan the Terraform Associate as a skills credential alongside it.
Both Terraform classes include a free course retake within one year of your original class, along with post-class mentoring from an instructor while you prepare for the exam. Use it if you want a second pass through the labs before you test. The exam itself is a different matter: HashiCorp does not include a free retake, so a second exam attempt is purchased separately from HashiCorp.
Live online with an instructor, in full-day sessions across three consecutive days. Every student works in a hands-on lab environment in real cloud accounts throughout the class: AWS, Azure and Google Cloud in Terraform Essentials, and an Azure subscription in Managing Azure with Terraform. Either course can also run privately for a team, online or at your site, using the same instructor and material.
Yes. Terraform builds the platform and Kubernetes runs the workloads on it, so the two skills sit side by side on most platform and DevOps teams. Once you hold the Terraform Associate, the Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) is the natural next credential. Take the five-day CKA boot camp if you are already comfortable at a Linux command line, or start with the two-day Kubernetes Fundamentals class if containers are new to you.
