Two: GitHub Copilot (GH-300) and GitHub Certified: Agentic AI Developer (GH-600). Note that GH-600’s certification name and exam name differ, the exam being titled Developing in Agentic AI Systems.
Microsoft’s audience profile for GH-600 assumes experience with GitHub Copilot. Candidates are expected to have experience with coding agents including GitHub Copilot, MCP servers and agent customization, which is exactly what GH-300 covers. This is the vendor’s own progression.
3 days of live, instructor-led GH-300 and GH-600 training from Official Microsoft Courseware, delivered online or in person. Class runs 9am to 5pm, the labs are hosted so you need only a laptop, and test day is scheduled for Day 3.
Yes. Exam vouchers for both GH-300 and GH-600 are included with your enrollment. Nothing further is owed on test day, and the vouchers stay valid if you would rather book the exams later.
GH-300 gives you 100 minutes. GH-600 gives you 120 minutes, the longest of the GitHub exams. Microsoft does not publish a fixed question count. Passing is a scaled score of 700 out of 1000.
Both blueprints are set out in full in the Course Outline above. In summary: GH-300 covers Copilot features, responsible use, data and architecture, prompt engineering and context crafting, developer productivity, and privacy and content exclusions. GH-600 covers agent architecture and SDLC processes, tool use and environment interaction, memory, state and execution, evaluation and error analysis, multi-agent orchestration, and guardrails and accountability.
For GH-300, yes. For GH-600, not yet, which is why this course carries its own domain-mapped practice bank and a full-length readiness exam for it.
Microsoft tags GH-600 for AI engineers, developers, DevOps engineers, solution architects, data engineers and app makers. In practice it suits people putting AI agents into a real software development lifecycle who need to prove they can govern them.
GitHub enforces none. Microsoft states GH-600 candidates should have experience with the SDLC, GitHub workflows and controls, and code quality and review practices. Day one covers the Copilot grounding, so you do not need to hold GH-300 before you arrive.
The Enterprise Track covers GH-100, GH-200, GH-300 and GH-500 over five days for the people who run GitHub for everyone else. This track goes deeper on the AI side for the people building with it. GH-300 appears in both, since it matters to both audiences.
