Each of the four gives you 100 minutes. Microsoft does not publish a fixed question count for the GitHub exams. Passing is a scaled score of 700 out of 1000.

GitHub enforces none. All four exams are written at intermediate level and assume hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise. If you are new to GitHub, start with our GitHub Foundations course instead.
Each exam has its own published blueprint, set out in full in the Course Outline above. In summary: GH-100 covers identities and access, Enterprise administration, secure software development, Actions and usage monitoring; GH-200 covers workflow authoring, troubleshooting, action maintenance, enterprise Actions and automation security; GH-300 covers Copilot features, responsible use, data and architecture, prompt engineering, productivity and privacy safeguards; GH-500 covers the Security suites, Secret Protection, supply chain security, Code Security with CodeQL, security operations and suites administration.
They overlap deliberately. GH-100 covers Actions at 20-25% of its blueprint and secure software development at 25-30%, so the administration day introduces material that GH-200 and GH-500 then take to depth.
Yes. The credentials are GitHub-branded but the exams are administered by Microsoft and the courses carry Microsoft course numbers (GH-100T00, GH-200T00, GH-300T00, GH-500T00), so we teach them from Official Microsoft Courseware.
Two years. GitHub is moving to Microsoft’s recertification process, which will let you renew without retaking the full exam.
