Toyota:
Security Awareness for a Multilingual Workforce

Role-based cyber readiness training, taught in the languages Toyota’s employees actually speak.

Toyota
70%Lower phishing susceptibility
10%Increase in employees reporting incidents
20%Better incident response

Project Overview

Toyota’s employees work in many countries and speak many languages. Its earlier awareness training was standardized, which left gaps. People who didn’t share the course language missed details, and IT security specialists sat through the same material as non-technical staff.

Training Camp built a Cyber Readiness & Awareness program around those differences. Materials and live instruction came in the key languages Toyota employees speak, with regional examples for each location. General staff got foundational awareness, IT teams got advanced technical sessions, and everyone practiced on simulated phishing attacks and incident scenarios.

The Client

Toyota is one of the world’s largest automakers. Founded in 1937 and headquartered in Toyota City, Japan, it created the Toyota Production System and brought hybrids into the mainstream with the Prius. Today it builds everything from compact cars to trucks and Lexus luxury models for customers worldwide.

Challenge

One Course Didn’t Fit Everyone

  • Standardized courses left knowledge gaps for employees working in other languages.
  • IT security specialists and non-technical employees needed very different levels of depth.
  • Slide-based awareness training didn’t prepare people to recognize and respond to a real attack.
Solution

Training in Their Language, at Their Level

  • Translated materials and live instruction in key languages, with regional case examples.
  • Separate tracks, with foundational awareness for general employees and advanced technical sessions for IT.
  • Phishing simulations and interactive incident response exercises, so people practiced spotting and reporting attacks.
