CISSP Certification Boot Camp – The CISSP exam really, really sucks.

You can still sit the exam. Pass without the full experience requirement and ISC2 names you an Associate of ISC2, which gives you time to accumulate the required experience and convert to full CISSP.

The requirement is five years of paid work across two or more of the eight domains. A four-year degree or an approved certification waives one of those five years.

Most people have more qualifying experience than they think. System administration, network engineering, and audit work all count when the duties map to a domain.

The two costs people forget are not ours: ISC2 charges an annual maintenance fee once you are certified, and endorsement needs an ISC2 member to sign off, which is free but takes time to arrange.

You may not have to be. The same course also runs as a two-week evening format, so you keep your workday and train after it.

That timing matters more than people expect. You test while the material is still sharp, while the exam strategies are still fresh, and while your instructor is still reachable. It closes the gap where momentum usually dies.

Training Camp is the only training organization in the US and Canada approved to deliver the CISSP exam onsite, so this is only available with our official boot camp.

Passing is not the last step. You submit an endorsement application where an active ISC2 credential holder attests to your professional experience, and ISC2 reviews it before the certification is issued.

This trips people up more than it should. Candidates pass, get busy, and let the window close. We walk you through the endorsement process so it actually gets finished.

Not in the way most people assume. On April 2, 2026, ISC2 published its Exam Guidance for Artificial Intelligence, which maps where AI security concepts already appear across more than 50 exam domains in its certification portfolio.

There is no new AI domain and no ninth domain on the CISSP. AI concepts are woven into the domains you already study: Security and Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Architecture and Engineering, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, and Software Development Security.

What that means in practice: expect scenarios where the system being secured is an AI system. The judgment the exam tests has not changed. The technology in the question has.

The exam is computerized adaptive testing. You get 100 to 150 questions in a maximum of 3 hours, and you need a scaled score of 700 out of 1000 to pass. Since April 2024 every language sits the CAT format, so the old 250 item, 6 hour linear exam is retired.

Adaptive means the exam adjusts to you. Answer well and the questions get harder. It ends as soon as the algorithm is confident about your ability, which can be as early as question 100. Up to 25 of the items are unscored pretest questions and you cannot tell which ones.

It will feel difficult the entire time. That is the format working correctly, not a signal that you are failing. We prepare you for that specifically.

This is the single most common pattern we see in people who are close to passing. You are not missing knowledge. You are missing strategy.

The CISSP does not just test facts, it tests judgment. It asks which approach a leader should implement FIRST. You know the material. We teach you how the exam thinks.

No. Slides exist, but they are not the class. Our instructors are working security leaders who manage teams and answer to boards right now, so when someone asks how a control actually plays out, the answer comes from last quarter rather than from the deck.

Most of the day is scenario work: you are given a situation, you argue for an approach, and you find out where your reasoning does not survive contact with the exam's logic. That argument is the part that transfers.

The CISSP runs on a three-year cycle. You earn 120 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits across those three years, at least 90 of them Group A, and ISC2 suggests about 40 a year. You also pay ISC2 an annual maintenance fee of $135.

Most of what you already do counts. Conference attendance, webinars, reading, volunteering, and further training all earn credits.

Continued training with us counts toward your CISSP cycle and toward the CEU requirements on any CompTIA credentials you hold alongside it.

Three things, in order. First, create your ISC2 account and sort exam scheduling so nothing administrative is in the way later. Second, read the eight domain outlines once, not to memorize but to find which ones you have never touched in your working life, because that is where your study time belongs.

Third, use the mobile app you get at registration and work practice questions in short daily blocks rather than long weekend sessions. If you arrive having done nothing, the class still works. If you arrive knowing your two weakest domains, you will get considerably more out of it.

Security and Risk Management carries the heaviest weight on the current outline, and it is also the domain that sets the mindset for everything else, which is why the week starts there rather than with the most technical material.

CISSP is broader and more technical, eight domains running from cryptography to software development security, and it is the credential most security architect and senior engineer postings name.

CISM is narrower and squarely management: governance, risk, program development, and incident management, for people who run a security function rather than build it.

If your next role still has your hands on systems, take the CISSP. If you are moving into owning the program and the budget, CISM fits better. Plenty of people end up with both, and the CISSP is usually first because it is the one more employers screen on.
