    To qualify for the SSCP certification, you need at least one year of cumulative paid work experience in one or more of the seven domains of the SSCP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK). If you don’t have the required experience, you can still take the exam and become an Associate of ISC2 until you accumulate the necessary experience. A four-year college degree or regional equivalent may be substituted for the one year of experience.

    The SSCP certification is valid for three years. To maintain the certification, you must earn 60 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits over the three-year period and pay an Annual Maintenance Fee (AMF) to ISC2. This ensures your knowledge stays current with evolving security practices and technologies.

    The SSCP exam is a Computerized Adaptive Test of 100 to 125 items, and you have two hours to finish it. Items mix multiple choice with advanced item types, and the passing score is 700 out of 1000. You sit it at an authorized Pearson VUE testing center, and our boot camp includes an on-site testing option. Under the outline effective October 1, 2025, the seven domains are weighted as follows: Security Concepts and Practices (16%), Network and Communications Security (16%), Access Controls (15%), Risk Identification, Monitoring and Analysis (15%), Systems and Application Security (15%), Incident Response and Recovery (14%), and Cryptography (9%). The exam is offered in English, Japanese, and Spanish.

Each day focuses on specific domains with practical applications, culminating in a full review and exam preparation strategies on the final day.     If you do not pass the SSCP exam on your first attempt after completing the boot camp, you can return for the entire course again at no cost and sit the exam a second time at no additional cost. ISC2 sets a waiting period between attempts, and your instructor will help you spend it on the domains that caught you out.
