EC-Council offers a full cybersecurity track: CEH (ethical hacking), CND (network defense), ECIH (incident handling), CHFI (digital forensics), and CPENT (advanced penetration testing), plus CCISO for security leadership. CEH is the flagship and the most-requested EC-Council credential by name in job postings.

For most people targeting offensive-security or hybrid roles, yes. CEH is one of the most-requested credentials by name, is recognized internationally, and is approved for U.S. DoD 8140 workforce roles. It is most valuable for IT professionals and career-changers moving into penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, or SOC analysis.

Yes. Under DoDM 8140.03, CEH is an approved qualification for multiple DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work roles, spanning Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced proficiency levels, which makes it a common requirement for defense and federal contractor positions.

They cover different sides of security. CEH is offensive, finding and exploiting weaknesses like an attacker. CND is defensive, protecting, detecting, and responding on the network (blue team). CHFI is investigative, performing digital forensics after an incident. Many professionals earn more than one to round out their skill set.

CEH (EC-Council) emphasizes ethical-hacking methodology across 20 modules with broad tool coverage and stronger international name recognition. CompTIA PenTest+ uses performance-based exam items and a more hands-on scenario format. Both are vendor-neutral and cover overlapping but distinct ground; the right choice depends on the roles and employers you are targeting.

For offensive security, start with CEH. For defensive, SOC, or network roles, start with CND or ECIH. Aspiring managers and CISOs should look at CCISO. IT professionals new to security most often begin with CEH because employers request it directly and it satisfies DoD 8140.

Training Camp delivers EC-Council courses as accelerated boot camps, typically around five days of intensive instruction with hands-on labs. Most candidates with an IT or security foundation prepare for roughly six to ten weeks total, including the boot camp, before sitting the exam.
